Customs - How much tax will I pay? Can you mark item as gift?

What is Customs?

A department of the government that collects money on imported goods. This money goes directly to your country's government and none of it goes to OMG Japan. OMG Japan cannot control how long a package takes in customs or the amount of money you're charged. How much Customs Tax must I pay?

The international shipping fee you pay does NOT include customs duties or import taxes.

Customs Tax is not included in our shipping charges. As the importer, you will be fully responsible for any Custom tax or duty, and any processing fees for Customs payments. Before ordering anything online from a different country, we recommend researching your country's import and customs laws. Doing so will prevent any surprises further down the road!

We are not familiar with all the Customs rules for the 150 countries we ship to. These rules are changing all the time, so we encourage you to contact your local Customs office if you have specific questions about their rules and regulations.

We are also not familliar with any extra processing fees for customs charged by shipping carriers. You have to be extra mindful if you are using DHL in Spain, Canada and India, since we received reports about high processing fees in these countries. You can read more about it here.

Can you change the value of my package on the invoice?

Unfortunately, we can not mark packages as “Gift”. All packages are marked as 'Merchandise' on the shipping label. The value will be marked at the price you've paid for the product. We are unable to adjust the values to make them lower on your invoice. As we are not familiar with the Customs rules in your country we suggest contacting your local Customs office to learn more about regulations before you place an order with us.

What if I refuse to pay customs tax?

If you refuse to pay the customs tax, your package will either be returned to us or destroyed by your local customs office. If the package is destroyed, we're unable to issue a refund. If the package is returned to us, we will issue a refund for the cost of the product, minus the return shipping costs.

How can I find out more about customs taxes in my country?

We recommend calling your local customs office and explain what you're purchasing from us and let them know the approximate purchase price. Your local customs agent should be able to estimate how much you'll pay in customs tax when your package arrives.
